Poipu

This is the drier side of the island, and seems to be a
little more family oriented than the north side.
There isn't much congestion, and there are nice beaches
and resorts.

Here is the main beach in Poipu. I did not go
snorkeling here, but from what the people were saying as
they were coming out of the water, there are lots of
colorful fish and good visibility. Seemed like
there were more families with kids than backpackers.

This is the beach that is part of the Hyatt. The
Hyatt has an awesome layout, and is a pleasure to just
walk through.

Although Hawaii is a tropical paradise, there are some
people who are not as welcoming to visitors as
everybody else. This was the only sign of anger I
could find on Kauai. This is not meant to dissuade
you from visiting but just to be aware. If you
notice, they use the word "Haole's" on the
truck. Over the years, this was to mean someone
not from the island, but from the mainland. It is
not supposed to be derogatory, but the connotation I
derived from talking to local "Haolie's" was
that they took it as a derogatory term.
